whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Phil 4:8

Burning Out

I’m a strong advocate for the long, marathon race. Most of my friends know I often talk about resting, resilience and tenacity etc. Rest to go the longer distance, I say.

This is the result of seeing too many nice people burning out serving their physical body exhausted. When these people burn out, the rippling effect has much impact on others. On the other hand, I recognise the need to stretch our capacities- this requires us to move beyond our comfort zones to serve others more effectively. Scott Young gives an insight of how he does it here. Something I thought interesting:

“Having a controlled burnout in many ways can prevent out-of-control burnouts later.  By knowing where your burnout threshold is, you can take steps to smooth out projects so there won’t be debilitating workload crunches later. – Scott Young

Controlled burnout. What are your thoughts?
