2 Years Down – Terri and Bindi Irwin

video: Bindi’s eulogy @ Steve Irwin’s zoo (2006)

I was giving tuition when my student took out April’s issue of Readers’ Digest.

It’s been 2 years since the passing on of Steve Irwin, the world-famous wildlife expert and televisiona personality. As I read the interview (available online on 6 April) except, I was moved by the strength and resilience of the Irwin family.

To quote Terri Irwin:

” The difference you make on earth have the ability to outlive you (referring to Steve)”

Steve manhood and grace was apparent. He told his wife “there are different kinds of strength,” when Terri told him he is so energetic that she can hardly keep up with him in the days of Crocodile Hunter.

Those words stayed in her mind and I believe it gave her much strength. She’s determined to carry on the legacy and continue to spread the message of conservation for wildlife and love for animals.

“Every adversity, heart ache… bears a seed of a greater or equivalent benefit.” – Napoleon Hill

For those of us who face what is seemingly insurmountable circumstances, take it as an opportunity. It is a privilege to struggle. A butterfly that does not struggle through its cocoon will never find that strength in its wings to fly and show the world the beauty of its wings.
